Sanding and refinishing hardwood floor is a very good way to give your room a fresh new look, refinishing your old hardwood floors is an more economical than replacing the floor, many people are amazed at how much the wood can be restored. It normally takes a couple of days to complete the work. Our professional crew has many years of experience of sanding, staining and refinishing wood flooring and stair steps.
Professional heavy-duty sanders and edgers are used for 90% dust free. Doorways can be sealed by plastic sheet to prevent dust leak if requested but is normally not needed. Floors are sanded using coarse, medium and fine sand papers to ensure the surface get enough required smoothness.
For clear finish, sealer is applied as first coat. Sealer will be dry in relatively short time, then another coat of polyurethane will applied. It takes about 24 hours for putting the last coat. Buffing between each polyurethane coat will be applied.
For stained floor, stain will be applied instead of sealer. Depending upon the type of stain used will determine the dry time. Normally two coats of polyurethane will be applied after the stain. To ensure the even color, the staining process is time consuming and takes skill to achieve a professional look.
We offer customer choice of: Oil-based or water-based polyurethane; semi-gloss or high-gloss finish.
Customer's responsibility: the job site has to be clear with furniture before the scheduled date. We can remove carpet at small extra cost. Floor can not be walked on during the refinishing process and is recommended that you stay off of the floor for another 16 to 24 hours after we leave. Light traffic can resume after the 24 hour period and furniture can be carried back in and set gently, nothing should be slid for at least 72 hours.
